The Role

The Assembly II employee is responsible for advanced precision assembly, alignment, cleaning, gluing, inspection, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, optical, and electromechanical modules for Grass Valley’s professional broadcast camera systems. This role requires independent problem-solving, technical expertise, and the ability to optimize assembly processes. Tasks may be performed in an ISO-controlled cleanroom environment as required.
The Assembly II employee contributes directly to product quality, reliability, and production efficiency, while supporting process improvements and guiding less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities:

Advanced Assembly & Production Execution: 

• Independently assemble complex mechanical, optical, and electromechanical components and modules according to approved work instructions and procedures.  

• Perform cleaning, gluing, alignment, and mounting of components with high precision and accuracy.  

• Strictly follow ISO cleanroom procedures, including contamination control and proper material handling.  

• Ensure all assembly work meets mechanical, optical, and electrical specifications.  

Inspection, Validation & Troubleshooting: 

• Conduct detailed in-process and final inspections to identify deviations or potential faults.  

• Perform functional and alignment checks to detect and correct malfunctions.  

• Execute minor repairs or adjustments to restore modules to specification.  

• Mentor or assist Assembly I colleagues in inspection and troubleshooting tasks.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement: 

• Actively contribute ideas to improve assembly processes, tools, workflows, and documentation.  

• Support the introduction of new procedures or updated work instructions based on practical experience.  

• Continuously develop technical skills in precision assembly, optics handling, and contamination control.  

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow and high product quality.  

• Communicate technical issues, risks, and improvement suggestions effectively and proactively.  

Documentation & Reporting: 

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of assembly steps, inspections, deviations, and corrective actions.  

• Provide timely updates to Manager Operations or Production Team Leader regarding progress, challenges, and completed tasks.

• Manager Operations: For planning, prioritization, and reporting complex assembly tasks.  

• Engineering & Quality: To clarify technical issues, report deviations, and align on improvements.  

• Production colleagues: To coordinate workflow, share best practices, and support team performance.  

Qualifications

Education: 

• MBO-4 or equivalent technical education  

Experience: 

• 2–5 years of experience in precision mechanics, optics, or cleanroom assembly 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

• Excellent hand–eye coordination, manual dexterity, and attention to detail  

• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and make practical decisions  

• Proactive, flexible, and collaborative mindset  

• Ability to guide or mentor less experienced colleagues  

• Basic computer skills (MS Office)  

• Proficiency in Dutch; English is an advantage
