The Role

Grass Valley Technical Learning wish to hire a talented and dynamic technical instructor to deliver and create training programmes for Grass Valley. The Technical Learning department is responsible for delivering skills and solution-based training to both Grass Valley customers, employees and the wider broadcast industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • To design, develop and deliver high-quality technical learning programs and events for employees, partners and customers. These will be on a range of broadcast and software technologies but focused on Grass Valley products and systems.

  • Create and deploy online learning materials and programs on our digital Learning Management System (LMS) to address specific business objectives throughout our product range.

  • Work with our customers to capture and implement any specific training requirements and follow through to execution.

  • Work closely with GV Product Management and other technical teams to identify and implement training opportunities with new technologies and products.

  • Monitoring and assessing the effectiveness and success of training programs.

  • Connecting to and managing remote environments in our worldwide demo centres and labs.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • A clear and enthusiastic explanatory and presentation style with the ability to engage the learners, manage questions and lead any ensuing discussion.

  • Able to demonstrate their points with clarity and support their arguments by explaining “why” and “how”, not just “what”

  • Ability to communicate effectively with learners where English is not their first language.

  • Demonstratable knowledge of learning methods, styles and learning adaptations required for different audiences needs.

  • Ability to produce clear and concise learning materials in a wide range of formats for use with in-person and for online learning.

  • Experience in video editing and recording, editing and publishing learning content, IP video and video streaming.

  • Confident interaction with customers, product, engineering and operational staff at all levels of an organization.

  • A strong technical background, preferably with experience in both broadcast hardware and software.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking that can be applied in practice.

  • Self-reliance - you will often work alone at customer sites in different time zones, without immediate recourse to support from base.

  • Strong personal organization and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously.

  • A self-starter who takes the initiative to instigate appropriate change.

  • Team player with a positive attitude who is easily approachable and collaborative.

Our ideal candidate would also possess:

  • Knowledge and experience of Grass Valley products

  • An in-depth knowledge of more than one of the following areas:

  • Linux

  • Preparation and commissioning of cloud-based server systems and environments

  • Modern broadcast media production and workflows

  • Experience of digital learning development, particularly with Adobe Suite and/or Articulate 360.

This role may suit someone from the broadcast industry, who is working in a technical pre-sales, solutions architect or systems integration role and possesses strong presentation skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ideally educated to HNC / Degree level in Electronics or Communications Engineering

  • An in-depth knowledge of our industry. This is important as it gives you the authority and expertise to train others.

  • Minimum 5 years engineering background

Or

  • Minimum 5 yrs demonstratable technical instruction experience

You should be conversant with the latest technologies, trends and developments in the learning industry and be able to demonstrate how these can be reflected in our learning offerings.

Other Considerations

This is a Europe-based role but with potential global reach. The successful applicant will be required to undertake frequent travel. Whilst this is usually planned some time in advance, it must be understood that, on occasion, this will be at short notice.

Grass Valley offers competitive compensation packages in an energizing and supportive work environment.
