Your Role
We are seeking a dynamic electronics engineer to manage, control and create our shared infrastructure, manage assets and to support the validation of partner software by following a script configured by developers. This role supports the Research & Development and Delivery & Support lab management under our in-house Events, Demo & Engineering team. The infrastructure you manage will be shared across Grass Valley’s offices for both development and support, including remote users.
The main purpose of the job is:
Manage assets that have been collated by R&S during the business transformation period
Control assets back into manufacturing, B-stock sale and or R&S Labs
Working with R&S engineering leads to identify shared infrastructure, for example 2110/SDI networks
Racking and configuration of new and used equipment
Mange power and A/C calculations and uptime of labs
Control shared resources of GV assets between R&S
Develop and maintain an inventory of Grass Valley assets with budget management
Working closely with R&S to keep updated with product knowledge and technology
Implement strategies to share information between GV teams
Support the validation of partner s/w by following a script configured by developers
Support Events and Demo loan departs and lab area
What you’ll need to be successful
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
Knowledge of Media Video and Audio formats
Knowledge of Storage Systems (HDD, SSD, NAS, Cloud Storage, etc.)
Knowledge on & with IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, Routing Protocols, SSH, Network Monitoring / Troubleshooting tools
Knowledge of Linux & Windows operating systems
Experience with network hardware and software configuration
Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the Media/Broadcast Industry
Exposure to security concepts / best practices
Knowledge of English appropriate to the duties is required, as the incumbent must work with teams located in Montreal
Education requirements
Engineering Degree in Electronics or Computer Sciences (Telecommunication) or equivalent and experience within the media industry
An in-depth knowledge of our industry. You should know the latest technologies, trends and developments in the field and adjust to reflect the changes. You should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and think creatively to come up with novel ways of solving specific challenges
Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting timelines
Strong project management and organizational skills
Flexibility and resourcefulness to manage changing business requirements, projects, and resources, adapting accordingly and positively
Ability to simplify technical or complex information and tasks
