The Opportunity

Grass Valley is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Solution Architect to join our Presales team based in Hong Kong, China. This role supports our Media & Entertainment customers across the APAC region.

As an integral part of the wider Sales team and being well-versed in the facets of complex solutions selling and broadcast technologies, the Solution Architect will help guide, shape, design, build mind share and adoption of the next generation media and broadcast platforms on offer from Grass Valley.

Your Role

As a Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions for broadcast systems and infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including broadcasters, engineers, Media and IT professionals, to develop comprehensive and scalable solutions that meet the requirements of the broadcasting industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Engineering & Presales Support

· Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle, including customer meetings, solution presentations, demonstrations, Proof of Concepts (POCs), and workshops.

· Develop high-level system designs, technical proposals, and Statements of Work (SOW).

· Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal stakeholders.

End-to-End Solution Design

· Collaborate with clients and internal teams to gather requirements and design comprehensive broadcast and media solutions.

· Architect scalable and resilient systems including compute (cloud and on-premises), encoding/transcoding, streaming, storage, automation, orchestration, and content delivery platforms

· Ensure seamless interoperability and performance optimization.

Technical evaluation & recommendation

· Conduct in-depth technical evaluations of hardware, software, and third-party solutions to identify the most suitable components for broadcast systems.

· Recommend solutions aligned with customer needs, industry best practices, and emerging trends.

Workflow optimization & Innovation

· Analyse existing broadcast workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and automation.

· Propose and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Standards & compliance

· Maintain strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and compliance requirements, including SCTE, MPEG, SMPTE, and ATSC.

· Ensure designed solutions align with regulatory and industry standards

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

· Produce detailed technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, solution briefs, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.

· Support knowledge sharing across Sales and Engineering teams.

Industry Engagement

· Participate and provide support at industry tradeshows, conferences, and customer events.

· Provide general consulting support.

· Strong customer focus and willing to travel within the APAC region.

What you Have to Offer

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline — or equivalent industry experience.

· Proven experience as a Solution Architect (or similar presales technical role) within the media and broadcast industry.

· Demonstrated experience in complex solutions selling for large-scale projects.

· Strong expertise in broadcast automation systems and media production platforms.

· Solid understanding of IP-based broadcast infrastructures and associated networking protocols.

· Experience with cloud‑based streaming and broadcasting environments, content delivery architectures and software-defined media workflows.

· Deep knowledge of encoding, transcoding, streaming technologies, and content delivery protocols.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical architectures.

· Excellent communication, presentation, and demonstration skills in English and Chinese.

· Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

· Strong customer orientation and willingness to travel up to 40% across the APAC region.
